A Career In Crime

Ain't it the truth! The private sector is a lot smaller and much more heavily regulated.

Democrats Killing Blacks As Undesirables

http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/this-proves-once-and-for-all-that-conservatives-are-not-racist

It's OK folks, it's for a GOOD CAUSE! Convenience! Besides, one of the demigods of liberalism, Margret Sanger has this to say about the issue. I mean, if they were "desirable", why would you kill them?
“We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”
“They are…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ’spawning… human beings who never should have been born.”
“Birth control is nothing more or less than…weeding out the unfit.”

Suppose you will ever hear the MSM ask a Democrat candidate about Margaret Sanger? If you want to read a little more on the American genocide that makes Hitler look like a saint in comparison ... http://www.blackgenocide.org/black.html

Changing Your Seven Year Olds Gender

Why We Love 7-Year-Old Transgender Activist, Avery Jackson, And Her Incredible Family:

A few weeks ago, after hearing the term on NPR a few hundred times, I realized that my gender, and the gender of everyone I know had changed. We are no longer "Male and Female" as God created us, but those of us whose brains match our gonads are "Cisgender", often abbreviated "Cis". NPR uses the term pretty much all the time now.

I've commented in many posts that the control of language is one of the primary mechanisms of totalitarianism -- George Orwell in 1984 and Animal Farm is both a chilling and entertaining introduction to understanding this. Changing the meaning of words and creating and controlling categories destroys the ability of the masses to discuss what is happening.

They know something is wrong, but they can't "put it into words". They can't do that because the old words that would have let them communicate are no longer used, or in some cases not even "allowed", while the new or re-used words have changed the meanings of even the most basic things -- man, woman, marriage, family, truth, good, bad, war, peace, etc.
Avery Jackson is a 7-year-old transgender girl and she is blowing the Internet away with her amazing story of transition. The Next Family is so impressed with Avery Jackson’s spunk and courage and all that her parents have done in support of Avery’s transition that we just have to share with you 10 reasons why we love Avery and the Jackson Family.
Up until a few years ago, when your little Granddaughter or girl said "Mommy, why can't I be a boy?", or "I want to be a boy". It was cause for a little smile and a discussion about how both little boys and girls are special and how glad we are that God gave us a little girl!". Knowing that there may well be a "tomboy phase" to follow, or even that she may become an astronaut (oops ...  well, maybe if she lived in Russia or China!).

I've heard coverage of the "important new issue" of "transgender" children on MPR a few times. They are still "discussing" how mandatory it needs to be, but it is clear that if a little girl of boy makes their thoughts of possibly preferring the opposite gender known to school authorities, it is time for some SERIOUS thought! When a "liberal" has an idea that they believe to be "good", it is only a short step to it being "mandatory and paid for by the state!".

When I tell you that the destruction of civilization will leave us with NOTHING I sometimes realize that I can't come even close to imagining the level of depravity that consumes Satan and his followers. He seeks to utterly destroy ALL of creation!!  Even the term "meaning" becomes  dissolved into  chaotic gibberish.

As write away on my fiction, I become absorbed in the idea that creation might include infinite timelines -- those closer to the will of God being closer to Heaven, and those farther away from his will closer to Hell. Yes, it is fiction as far as I know, but sometimes I can't imagine how God has allowed evil to corrupt what we generally believe to be the single history of creation to this extent!

Call 911! Red Star Sniffs $$$ Reality!

Boomers, millennials need wake-up call on deficit - StarTribune.com:

Ok, apparently hitting the floor restarted my heart!

Whose face do you picture when you think of history’s greatest thieves? If you are an old movie buff, perhaps Butch and Sundance or Bonnie and Clyde come to mind. Maybe Bernie Madoff and his $65 billion Ponzi scheme?
Well, even that staggering amount is paltry compared to history’s truly greatest theft. And the face of the greatest thief might surprise you. If you are over 50 take a look in the mirror. History’s greatest thief is you!

The United States is $18 trillion in debt, an amount that continues to rise at an alarming rate with no end in sight by anyone’s calculation. But that is dwarfed by the $128 trillion in “unfunded liabilities.” Unfunded liabilities are the amount by which future obligations exceed the present value of funds available to pay for them.
To put that in perspective our nation’s unfunded liabilities come out to $1.1 million per taxpayer.
Folks, this is the RED STAR TRIB! Massive endorser and supporter of Wellstone, Dayton, Franken, Klobuchar, BO!  This column sounds like **ME** ... only I've been understating the unfunded liabilities as "$40-$60T"! I've lost touch with how bad this really is.

The CBO calculated that for debt in 2040 to equal the historical 50-year average of 38 percent of gross domestic product, Congress would need to cut spending by 13 percent or raise revenue by 14 percent beginning in 2016. Needless to say, neither of those is going to happen.
Right ... and if we had done something EARLIER, it would not be this bad, **BUT** the left and papers like the Strib have been demagoguing this for DECADES. Talk of imaginary "lock boxes", complete derision of plans like W's to privatize a portion of FICA, or against Paul Ryan's plan which was basically the idea that they now assert that Boomers need to adhere to.

Is there any way to save the millennials and subsequent generations from this continuing theft? The final irony is that the heroes must be the thieves themselves. It is up to the baby boomers to vote for politicians who will make the fundamental budgetary changes to alter the current path. But this is asking such voters to reject the political pandering that tells them government can keep expanding benefits without paying their full costs.
I wouldn’t hold my breath. The older generations are addicted to receiving benefits without paying for them. The younger generations are being robbed blind and don’t even know it.
I covered the Madoff - FICA similarity back in 2008 in this blog -- now seeing the Red Star agreeing with me a mere 8 years later is enough to make me think I ought have just stayed on the floor!

Trump Four Hour Erection

Trump and the Rise of the Unprotected: | COP Message Board Posts:

We are ALL very aware that modern life in America is COARSE, profane, disconnected, uncivil. As I've said before, I never even figured out what "gay" was prior to college. I certainly knew what an erection was, but I could not even imagine that there would be constant commercials on TV doing the "in the event of ...".  I'm so thankful I got to grow up in that world!

At a male outing one time watching football, a buddy remarked "4 hours? Hell, I'd drive over and show that one to my neighbor!" ... A certain amount of coarseness was always to be expected in male culture, it has just become completely pervasive. So while we are at it, as a public service, if you ever need to go into the doctor for the dreaded 4 hour wood, this is what they show you ...

The linked article is Peggy Noonan talking about the elites and the "unprotected". Her theory is:

There are the protected and the unprotected. The protected make public policy. The unprotected live in it. The unprotected are starting to push back, powerfully.
The protected are the accomplished, the secure, the successful—those who have power or access to it. They are protected from much of the roughness of the world. More to the point, they are protected from the world they have created. Again, they make public policy and have for some time.
I'd argue that the ONLY "protected" are those connected to government and the VERY rich. The current assumption is that "government is too big to fail", so any sort of teacher, city, county, state, federal, etc worker that has a government inflation adjusted pension plus great lifetime medical can feel "protected".

As I've commented before, I really don't know where exactly your wealth has to be in order to see yourself as "protected" outside of the previous paragraph  -- for me it would be AT LEAST 10's of millions of dollars.  I find prospects for high inflation likely, but even at this moment, it is hard to get much over 1% for cash, and as I've blogged on, you may soon have to PAY to stash cash! Anyone who thinks that a "broad based portfolio of stock and bond index funds" is "secure" is delusional. It could EASILY drop 50% or much more in the next five to ten years if not much sooner!

Certainly, vast swaths of America ARE delusional -- they actually do believe that "inflation / markets / interest / medical costs / etc" will follow "some reasonable model" that they have in their mind. This in a country with $19T in debt, $120T in unfunded liabilities, negative growth, uncontrolled borders and rapidly shrinking workforce participation.

Peggy also discusses "immigration"  ...
In wise governments the top is attentive to the realities of the lives of normal people, and careful about their anxieties. That’s more or less how America used to be. There didn’t seem to be so much distance between the top and the bottom.
Now is seems the attitude of the top half is: You’re on your own. Get with the program, little racist.
Ah, the "bitter clingers". Here in MN, our own heavily medicated governor has declared that he wants anyone who doesn't want vast numbers of immigrants -- Muslims or whatever, to "leave"! Because see, MN has no workers left since birth control, abortion and gay "marriage" have been so "successful", so our future depends on it! Destroying America was actually simple for the left -- they just replaced the population!

The Republican establishment has pretty much decided that it is way too late to save America from a total change in racial demographics, they agree with the Democrats -- Republicans need to "get with the program" or they are GONE!

But perhaps they forgot about the coarse, profane, disconnected and uncivil nation they have wrought. If the vast majority of the white voters that are apolitical, or "blue dog" Democrats, the "Tea Party" Republicans who have had it with the "establishment" and even a significant number of blacks, who often don't have a lot of love for hispanics, along with no doubt a good percentage of even successful hispanics who see the continuing uncontrolled wave from Mexico as a threat to the lives they have built here, get riled up and behind Trump, then ????

As PowerLine argue here, it could be 1976 from a new slant ...

The genius of Jimmy Carter was to understand that after Johnson and Nixon, what the country wanted in a president was someone who taught Sunday school. The genius of Trump is to understand that after the unhappy Bush presidency and the divisiveness of Obama, a large plurality of Americans wants someone who will smash up the existing order—the details of how are not important.
In coarse reality TV, post stained blue dress, lets talk about gay sex, sex change and four hour erections america, it may be most important to the "mass electorate" that our next president match the culture that has been wrought -- and that they CERTAINLY have nothing to do with Sunday school!

The country the Trump voters knew is GONE and they don't recognize the one they are in. The people that have been telling them what to think for the last few decades while they took their religion, their decency, their values, their jobs, their pensions, their kids and even a remote sense that they lived in a country with any backbone or future of late. They have nothing at all to lose -- they are killing themselves after one fashion or another in increasing epidemic proportions.

In a country with no morals, no standards and a blatant pounding coarseness is not Trump the most perfect reflection of  "unprotected America" in the same way as Hillary is the perfect reflexion of "protected America" .... old, ugly, entitled, dismissive, criminal, false, depressing.

I believe this election is heading to  "choosing our destructor"!

Jimmy Buffett's Plain Plane Buffet

Jimmy Buffett's New Toy The ICON Aircraft | All Things Aero:

I'm not a Parrot Head, but I do like some Jimmy Buffett. He is a big airplane guy and a major league environmentalist. He feels the rest of us need to get rid of our SUVs. The video in the attached shows him trying out a new plane and lists the planes currently in his stable.

I DON'T hate the guy at all -- it helps me realize what dealing with liberals is all about. Many of them are talented very happy and well meaning people who have not one single wisp of the concept "consistency", let alone any interest in dealing in any of it. I'm convinced it is one of the ways to be happy -- at least if your brain lets you compartmentalize well enough.

I wrote about his book "A Pirate Looks at 50" on my 50th birthday a decade ago. My seemingly wonderful life was about to fall into the abyss in less than two years from that post.

Intolerant left

http://dailysignal.com/2016/02/18/the-rise-of-intolerant-liberals/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=morningbell&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRonu6zLe+%2FhmjTEU5z16e0vUaC2gYkz2EFye+LIHETpodcMTcdjMrzYDBceEJhqyQJxPr3NLtQN191pRhLiDA%3D%3D

Nothing in the linked article is new if you read this Blog semi-regularly, but even I like to have corroboration sometimes.
For one thing, liberalism is no longer mainly about ideas. It is about power—as in who has it and who doesn’t. Believing they already know the answers to all questions, liberals view politics and governing as mopping up operations.
Never heard me say that have you? How about this one:

Today, there is virtually no government program that liberals won’t embrace. Clinton had his Sister Souljah moment when he repudiated extremism in his party. Today liberals can’t get close enough to the “black lives matter” movement.
The entire article is great -- but I'm the choir. It sounds like a good book coming out, but I'm afraid it will be low on my list. It sounds like a lot of ground that I've well covered.

There’s an old saying, he who controls knowledge controls power. Liberals get this adage instinctively. They treat truth not as wisdom—as something to be discovered—but as a will to power to be imposed by law and governmental fiat.

WaPo Trump Argument Ad Hitler, (Godwin's Law)

The moment of truth: We must stop Trump - The Washington Post:

Like any number of us raised in the late 20th century, I have spent my life perplexed about exactly how Hitler could have come to power in Germany. Watching Donald Trump’s rise, I now understand. Leave aside whether a direct comparison of Trump to Hitler is accurate. That is not my point. My point rather is about how a demagogic opportunist can exploit a divided country.
He opens with the argument from Hitler -- Godwin's Law, "Modern arguments eventually get to Hitler", however "that isn't his point".  Right. Mention Hitler and Trump in the same paragraph, but that isn't your point!

I believe that the truth in this is because all we have in modern times for a "metaphysical philosophical base" is Hitler, as in basically "What Would Hitler Do?" WWHD. This is because the positive role model for Western civilization, "What Would Jesus Do?" (WWJD) can't be used in meaningful ways other than when discussing with actual PRACTICING Christians -- as in Christ is real, Hell is real, abortion is murder and homosexuality is a sin (like adultery), these days. There aren't hardly enough of Christians like that left to even begin to make moral points.

Therefore, the ONLY remaining generally agreed cultural "transcendent value" is the negative of Hitler! Modern man has a hard time even recognizing evil, but when he does, he has no other referent than Hitler, and he has no generally agreed positive referent at all. As Nietzsche talks of "beyond good and evil", one might refer to this as "beyond fallen". A few moments of focus on this truth may help make sense of  "modern" or "post modern" (post truth, morals, reason).

Germany supported Hitler because he appealed to their pride as a people, the sense that they had been "sold out" by previous leaders, the Jews and the rest of the world. He promised to return them to the greatness that was their birthright as a people. **ALL** leaders appeal to various emotional aspects of the population -- FDR, Kennedy, Reagan and BO are all examples of previous relatively recent leaders that were in some sense "populist" and used their charisma to get into office.

The difference prior to BO was that our government was LIMITED by a written Constitution and congressional adherence to oaths to limit the power of the executive. BO broke that, so from here out -- unless by some miracle we come to our senses and return to rule of law and limited government, ANY president is dangerous!

The media created and nurtured Trump up until very recently. First through the very creation of the general public worship of "the lifestyles of the rich and famous" both in general and in specific "reality" shows -- the Kardashians, Apprentice, etc.  We have been traveling to the abyss for a long while -- Solzhenitsyn at Harvard 1978 is a worthy read to refresh your memory if you need it.

They LOVED Trump, because they assumed that he would create giant rifts in the Republican party, most likely resulting in him being a 3rd party candidate, taking "20%" of the vote and handing victory to Hillary or Bernie. Now, suddenly they realize they created a Frankenstein, and they may be totally unable to defeat him, so they want Republican help!

Since Republicans retain concepts of "long term view, morality, decency, etc", many may fall for such naked manipulation -- it will come from the right as well.  As I've said elsewhere, for anyone with true conservative principles, Trump is a hard pill to swallow.

The fact is that BO already destroyed what was America -- it's over, get used to it. Hillary or Bernie have BOTH talked about continuing illegal executive orders, with attempting to remove guns from private citizens in direct usurpation of the 2nd amendment. Hillary is a known criminal and congenital liar. BS is a socialist, do we really want to be Venezuela?

While Trump is crude, crass and historically anything but a "conservative", his personal accomplishments FAR exceed either Hillary or BS. Building businesses and making money is FAR more "reality based" than either of the candidates for "The Party (TP-D)". TP remains the chief KNOWN and STATED adversary of any vestige of what was America -- eg. private property, freedom of worship, freedom of political speech.

The concern about Trump will of course be even stronger from true practicing Christians -- here is an article in that vein.  Can anyone REALLY look at Hillary or BS and claim there is more "decency" there? We live in a nation that has murdered 60 million babies in their mothers wombs, condones gay "marriage", and currently is hard at trying to make it "normal" for parents to start gender change therapy if a little girl of boy of less than 10 years of age starts to identify as "the other gender". How long will it before it is MANDATORY for parents to support this? That is the standard path for "liberals" ... what they declare to be a "good idea" tends to quickly become mandatory!

Trump is at least a "wild card". We know what we get with a BS or Hildebeast, and I sure as hell don't want ANY of it!

Revulsion for Scalia, Priceless!

http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/02/29/antonin-scalia-looking-backward

I can imagine articles similar to the linked being written for Jesus after the crucifixion. "He mostly failed ...".  Given the direction of the country, I suspect they are right about Scalia, but God will provide the ultimate determination of that as well!
Antonin Scalia, who died this month, after nearly three decades on the Supreme Court, devoted his professional life to making the United States a less fair, less tolerant, and less admirable democracy. Fortunately, he mostly failed.
I thought this was rich ...
His revulsion toward homosexuality, a touchstone of his world view, appeared straight out of his sheltered, nineteen-forties boyhood.
It turns out that when tested on a PET scan, even people that SWORE they were "perfectly OK" with homosexuality were betrayed by their own brains displaying "revulsion". From a Darwinian POV, it is hard to imagine something less "adaptive" to the species, so from a scientific POV, that our our brains would be  so wired is anything but a surprise. Not surprising from a created POV either! So Scalia was human -- and admitted it, which is VERY unpopular today! Lying about even what your basic cells believe is the price "honor in the modern moral cesspool

But it was in his jurisprudence that Scalia most self-consciously looked to the past. He pioneered “originalism,” a theory holding that the Constitution should be interpreted in line with the beliefs of the white men, many of them slave owners, who ratified it in the late eighteenth century.

Let's beat up on those dead white guys -- oh, and certainly trash what they bequeathed to us!  We are doing a hell of a job -- whatever they name the post-BO wasteland, it isn't "America"!

To be laid to rest after dying peacefully on a hunting trip at 79 and to have your Son preside at your funeral! It just doesn't get any better than that! I can think of nobody more richly deserving.

Oh, to have the kinds of enemies that wrote this column? PRICELESS!

Trust, Security, Apple

We cannot trust our government, so we must trust the technology | US news | The Guardian:

First of all, I don't believe that the NSA or other US government agency can't break the iPhone security. Interagency, they may have decided that they don't really care about these particular people so they are not going to break THIS ONE, but if the top security apparatus of the US can't break into an iPhone, the idiots at the top are even more incompetent than I thought. (and that is INCOMPETENT!)

I used to work with security stuff at IBM. We had a couple of guys that would "go missing" for a few weeks, "on business", but with nothing more official than that. The "over drinks / wink wink nod, nod, I really need to shoot you now was" ... NSA. It was VERY clear that they could break whatever was "secure", and were going to continue to do so.

Beyond that, consider this from John McAfee ...

With all due respect to Tim Cook and Apple, I work with a team of the best hackers on the planet. These hackers attend Defcon in Las Vegas, and they are legends in their local hacking groups, such as HackMiami. They are all prodigies, with talents that defy normal human comprehension. About 75% are social engineers. The remainder are hardcore coders. I would eat my shoe on the Neil Cavuto show if we could not break the encryption on the San Bernardino phone. This is a pure and simple fact.
And why do the best hackers on the planet not work for the FBI? Because the FBI will not hire anyone with a 24-inch purple mohawk, 10-gauge ear piercings, and a tattooed face who demands to smoke weed while working and won't work for less than a half-million dollars a year. But you bet your ass that the Chinese and Russians are hiring similar people with similar demands and have been for many years. It's why we are decades behind in the cyber race.
If you don't know what "social engineers" are relative to computer security, they are "con men, grifters, pickpockets". If you want to get a little humility on how good such can be, take a look at this.   McAfee is VERY different ... he is running for president on the libertarian party this year ...

The top linked article is quite sad, but maybe the saddest part is this:

Perhaps most importantly, we need to end the culture of impunity that protects people who run illegal programs and continue to thrive in their careers after they are exposed, but vindictively pursues the whistleblowers who expose that illegality.
Only such a system, that offers transparently meaningful oversight and real consequences for those who violate our trust, has any chance of being trustworthy enough to remove the persistent global demand for platforms that preserve user privacy and security even at the expense of weakening the capabilities of their policing and national security agencies.

Seriously? With BO in the White House and Hillary Clinton running for president? With the guys that exposed Planned Parenthood's  selling of body parts under indictment?  Why just a few years ago the MSM had a cow over tracking who was calling the cells of known terrorists! Now they want "more trust"?

What part of THERE IS NO TRUST are these people missing?  In order to have such a thing as trust, one would need shared values, say Christianity. A written Constitution that was actually followed would be good. Perhaps after a few decades of return to such, some level of "trust" in organizations and governments might recover.

Those are gone ... learn to be as untrusting and independent as you possibly can be, and then learn some more!

Stealing Your Attention, Or Your Wallet

A Pickpocket’s Tale - The New Yorker:

One of the regular themes I return to is that one of the most dangerous of human  weaknesses is that ALL OF US look at things from a human perspective! It is a weakness that shows the old "how stupid could people be to assume the earth was the center of the universe" hubris ding to be an even worse hubris ding at a higher level!

Well, they used their natural brains, just as you are using yours now! What is it that you expected them to do?

Case in point, pickpockets. I love the opening of the linked article:

A few years ago, at a Las Vegas convention for magicians, Penn Jillette, of the act Penn and Teller, was introduced to a soft-spoken young man named Apollo Robbins, who has a reputation as a pickpocket of almost supernatural ability. Jillette, who ranks pickpockets, he says, “a few notches below hypnotists on the show-biz totem pole,” was holding court at a table of colleagues, and he asked Robbins for a demonstration, ready to be unimpressed. Robbins demurred, claiming that he felt uncomfortable working in front of other magicians. He pointed out that, since Jillette was wearing only shorts and a sports shirt, he wouldn’t have much to work with.
“Come on,” Jillette said. “Steal something from me.”
Again, Robbins begged off, but he offered to do a trick instead. He instructed Jillette to place a ring that he was wearing on a piece of paper and trace its outline with a pen. By now, a small crowd had gathered. Jillette removed his ring, put it down on the paper, unclipped a pen from his shirt, and leaned forward, preparing to draw. After a moment, he froze and looked up. His face was pale.
“Fuck. You,” he said, and slumped into a chair.
Robbins held up a thin, cylindrical object: the cartridge from Jillette’s pen.
The whole deal is worth a read, but the bottom line is that our attention can be controlled -- advertisers know it, politicians know it, the media REALLY knows it, magicians obviously know it, and a world class pickpocket will take what he wants EVEN IF YOU KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING!

The absolute dumbest thing any of us have is confidence! It is true that we can't live without SOME, but it is also critical that we know our limitations!

Those that are manipulating you know that your attention can be manipulated. You can't stop them ALL, but you can do MUCH better if you are aware!

"But physical technique, Robbins pointed out, is merely a tool. “It’s all about the choreography of people’s attention,” he said. “Attention is like water. It flows. It’s liquid. You create channels to divert it, and you hope that it flows the right way.”"

Time Travel With PJ

Even Stoned And 16, I Couldn’t Have Imagined This Dystopian Election - The Daily Beast:

This is entertainment, PJ Style. Apparently the part about the illegitimate son is true... obviously, none of his voters care what he did in his past life anyway -- he is a D AND a SOCIALIST!  We are talking complete "get out of jail free"! If the mother was insane and he killed the kid, it would likely add 5% at least to his vote from the left!

I've started to like the Dead a lot better as an old guy -- MORE PATIENCE! But this is still pretty funny!
"Hillary Rodham has a longer radioactive half-life than the Grateful Dead, and half of them are—I regret to inform you—dead, gratefully or otherwise. But they’re still packing venues. (Joke from the future: “What’s a Grateful Dead fan say when he runs out of pot? ‘What a shitty band.’”) "

I also loved this section. My favorite reference to the "Port Huron Statement" is here ...

If Bring-Down Bernie gets elected, all of life will be like being trapped in a meeting of the Students for a Democratic Society writing the Port Huron Statement until the end of time.

He probably won’t get elected. But that’s only because of LBJ avatar reincarnation of Shiva the Destroyer Intercontinental Ballistic Sister Hillary Rodham.

You know that art major who chews her hair and thinks she’s a witch? Hillary is a witch. Wait and see the spell she casts on this guy Bill she’s going to marry who is the Town Dog-Catcher in East Jesus, Arkansas, or something, and the next thing he knows he’s on trial in the U.S. Senate for getting head.
Unless you make her chill out.
Just read it if you like PJ, if you don't like him, AVOID IT! I'm a conservative, not a liberal, I actually think it is good that not everyone enjoys what I do!

Trusting Liberals on Religion

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/week-god-22016

How nice of MSNBC to have a feature "This week in God", so they can malign the religious or candidates that try to represent them:
That’s actually the argument Cruz made on NBC’s “Meet the Press” earlier this week. As the Texas Republican put it, “[I]f liberals are so confident that the American people want unlimited abortion on demand, want religious liberty torn down, want the Second Amendment taken away, want veterans’ memorials torn down, want the crosses and stars of David sandblasted off of the tombstones of our fallen veterans, then go and make the case to the people.”
The notion that liberals “want the crosses and stars of David sandblasted off of the tombstones of our fallen veterans” seemed new to me, but Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler defended the claim in a McClatchy interview, citing “several cases where memorials to veterans – in the shape of crosses – built on public land have triggered lengthy legal battles.”
Hmm ... you could almost laugh at the fact that liberals DO want "unlimited abortion, removal of religious liberty (in public), removal of the 2nd amendment" ... they aren't going to argue those, but the current claim is that "if you like your cross on your grave, you can keep it".

Indeed. "Liberals" are inherently trustworthy. Well, they didn't say what it would COST to keep your healthcare! Remember WAY back in '08 when BO and Hildebeast were BOTH of the idea that marriage was a "sacred rite, between a MAN and a WOMAN"? Hell, now days, "man and woman" are both "Cisgender"! "Marriage? Between what? A "questioning human" and a sheep? Go for it! -- just another bump on the road to absolute "roll your own sexuality".

Here in MN we were ASSURED that only backward ill informed people would even IMAGINE that anyone was on the path to even SUGGEST gay "marriage" in MN, so the idea of a Constitutional amendment "preventing it" was a ridiculous example of paranoia! The amendment failed, the Democrats took control of both houses and the governorship, and six moths later, gay "marriage" was legal in MN. Now tell me again why anyone with an ounce of conservatism should trust a "liberal"?

Indeed, isn't "liberal" just another way of saying "whatever feels good TODAY!"?

Oh wait, if the "wrong person" reads this blog and is offended, I guess I could be jailed for "hate speech" -- only fair after all, someone was OFFENDED!

Take heart though, this important segment ends on a positive note!

* Faith traditions don’t usually endorse movies, but apparently this one’s a little different: “On February 3, the upcoming indie horror film The Witch benefited from the sort of publicity that its studio, A24, might have shied away from even 10 years ago: The movie was officially endorsed as ‘a Satanic experience’ by the Satanic Temple.”

Nothing warms the cockles of an MSNBCers heart (both of them )  than a solid "Satanic experience"!

Perhaps they can get together to cast a spell to increase the viewership of MSNBC to THREE rather than just the usual TWO!

The Top 1% In Each State

http://mentalfloss.com/article/61362/what-youd-have-make-be-top-1-each-state

A little perspective on the evil 1% in each state. In Arkansas, you can get there with $228K. Sure, that may sound like "a whole lot" to a bunch of you, but consider that for the vast number of people that hit that lofty "top 1%", it is for a year or a few years at most. Perhaps they had a stock that did really well, got some significant award or bonus from work -- or got "bought out" so they are not likely to be working for the same amount of money for awhile, if ever.

While the "malefactors of great wealth" get LOTS of abuse these days, you don't fly around in a private jet on $228-$500K or so even if you make it for a FEW years!

American has always allowed you to hate these horrible folks all you want. What is new in this non-Constitutional mobocracy is that now it is perfectly legitimate to loot any amount wished up to ALL OF IT from these nasty high earning beasts!

In olden times, we used to have "Nursery Rhymes" like the "The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs" in which even small children learned that when the envious or greedy decided that they would cut open the "Goose" to get it all right now, they discovered that they destroyed the natural order of things and they ceased to receive the bounty they were already receiving.

But I'm certain there is no lesson there for the rush to socialism we see today!

BO, In His Own Actions

http://www.westernjournalism.com/watch-krauthammer-just-pointed-out-exactly-why-obama-skipped-scalias-funeral-with-3-words/

Anyone that cares already knows what BO thinks about "traditions", "honor", "respect" and all that "stupid stuff".  Whatever he "says" -- and how could ANYONE care what the incontinent gasbag "says" any more, need only to look at his ACTIONS to realize the truth of what I've been saying since 2008.

He wrote it in his book for goodness sakes!!!!!!

The reaction to BO is precisely TRUMP! Will Trump fix anything? Most likely not -- in fact, he will most likely make it worse, but once once people are completely angry, they "just want revenge". Maybe stupid, maybe destructive, maybe even terminal, but after a certain point, it just doesn't matter.

As I've wrote more than a few times, "Let It Burn" being one that springs to mind, after a certain point,  one needs to accept the inevitable!

BO doesn't give a RATS ASS for "civility", "decency", "statesmanship", or "being president" -- he is and always has been in it to "destroy the colonial powers" -- and pick up as much as he can for himself while he is doing it.

The saddest part is that we live in an area of N America where well over 50% of the population doesn't care enough to know, and if they DID fully know, their biggest concern would still align with BO pretty well -- What's in it for them!!!

NPR Keeps On Borking

Robert Bork's Supreme Court Nomination 'Changed Everything, Maybe Forever' : It's All Politics : NPR:

Robert Bork died the Wednesday before the Saturday Scalia died. The following Monday I went up to help move my Dad to a nursing home for what we hope will be a short stay and got to hear a LOT of NPR. One name I heard very little of was "Bork". When a name becomes a verb, as in "Borking", we know that something major happened.

Whenever a liberal judge dies with an R in the WH, the press pretty much goes berserk about "maintaining the balance in the court" -- how critical it is, and how virtually any action taken by whatever D's are in opposition is completely justified. Somehow I doubt there will be much of that discussion this time.

One of the COMMON things of which we are now reminded is that Democrats confirmed Anthony Kennedy in '88, an election year, and that is a "precedent", but the only reason the confirmation was in '88 is because the Bork debacle had happened in '97. Note as well that the Democrats were able force Reagan a two term VERY popular president, to appoint a clear moderate that is today a standard "swing vote" on the court, and completely rejected a totally solid candidate on an ideological basis only, thus setting the precedent for exactly what we have today!

Simply reporting that fact isn't good enough for NPR even today, thus they persist in "Borking"  ...
He opposed the Supreme Court's one man, one vote decision on legislative apportionment.
To understand this, you need to go to "Reynolds vs Sims" (1964) and "Baker vs Carr" (1964). Everyone got to vote in all cases, the issue was how equal the numbers in districts were and if the question was a legislative, judicial federal or state question. Those rulings gave us the strange geometry to congressional and state districts that we see today. Both decisions also had Constitutional intent and States Rights issues. It had NOTHING to do with each person getting to vote!
He wrote an article opposing the 1964 civil rights law that required hotels, restaurants and other businesses to serve people of all races.
While "liberals" love the use of coercive FORCE to achieve their visions, conservatives like to use persuasion and market forces, plus they like to have people make decisions by vote at the lowest level possible. The feds allowed states to decide on discriminating against smokers on a state by state basis. Currently, they are doing the same with marijuana. The court could have allowed states to continue to decide how to regulate abortion in each state.

NPR then and NPR now wants to justify "Borking" because he was "a racist". What he was, like Scalia, was a man who believed in rule of law, as did our founders. They EXPLICITLY wanted the states to be allowed maximal freedom from federal coercion, so that each would be a "laboratory" where laws and polices could be "tested" and people could "vote with their feet" if they like the policies of some states better than others!
He opposed a 1965 Supreme Court decision that struck down a state law banning contraceptives for married couples. There is no right to privacy in the Constitution, Bork said.
Again, he was against the FEDERAL government FORCING states to comply! Which is what the Constitution is against as well -- because the Constitution was explicitly written to LIMIT  centralized authoritarian government because it is an extreme danger to liberty!

As I've written before, any that want to read the Constitution will find that Bork was right, there is no "right to privacy" in the Constitution ... all "penumbra"!

CERTAINLY if we as a nation wanted to create a federal level "right to privacy", we could write a Constitutional Amendment for it, debate it, and approve it, and THEN there would be a "Right to Privacy" ENUMERATED in the Constitution!

But we are not that kind of people anymore. Even the "history" of 1987 and 1988 needs to be re-written to supposedly support whatever the current desires of "The Party" might be. NOTHING -- not words, not events, not lives, not even living or recently dead people are allowed to have a separate "truth" from the narrative of "The Party". **ALL** ... truth, meaning and life must be sacrificed at the alter of "The Party" and whatever it's current holy writ is freshly minted to be!

Reality has died under the effects of being constantly "Borked" each and every day. Thus, we have TRUMP, and the media and TP wonder how it can be that people seem to believe him even when he is "not factual"!!

When there is no Way, Truth or Life, the people create idols, and lo, they bowed before the orange god of Trump (Baal)! ... not surprising since many had previously bowed before the mulatto god of BO!

Recent History, For the Left Eye Only

Turned Around - The New Yorker:

I have a deep appreciation of the superior ability of the general lefty brain to generate narrative, if I ever complete my fiction work, it will be a MIRACLE!

From the POV of the left, "the big story of the last 50 years" is the rise of the RIGHT!
The biggest story of the past fifty years in American politics has been the ascendancy of the right, and it’s a story of apostasy. At each stage of the conservative movement’s long march to power, crucial aid was provided by heretics from the left. Progressives recoiled from the New Deal and turned reactionary; ex-Communists helped to launch National Review, in the nineteen-fifties; recovering socialists founded neoconservatism in the sixties and seventies; New Left radicals turned on their former comrades and former selves in the Reagan years.
Yes, forced bussing, Medicare, massive increases in welfare, Abortion on Demand, affirmative action, feminism, Political Correctness, gay rights/"marriage", open borders, massive increases in government regulation of all aspects of our lives, BOcare, states legalizing pot, etc, etc, all took place during the "rise of conservatism"!

The article really needs to be read to be imagined -- let alone believed. The idea that "people tend to move from left toward the right"  as they age is covered, with some of the standard epitaphs like "mugged by reality' inserted, but then the creative brain waves this as the meaning of the commonly noted left to right movement with age:
It’s like blaming your spouse for your own unfaithfulness. Political conversions are painful affairs, as hard to face up to as falling out of love or losing your religion. Or maybe harder. Religious faith, being beyond the reach of reason, doesn’t have to answer gotcha questions about a previously held position. There’s a special contempt reserved for the political apostate—an accusation of intellectual collapse, an odor of betrayal.
Got that? There IS no reason for people to move right -- it is embarrasing (to them) that some do. They are "apostates", "betrayers" ... or maybe they just had an "intellectual collapse"!

See the left has been unable to achieve utopia (yet), and there is no question that MUST be due to "the rise of the right"!
Chambers thought he was defecting to the losing side, and even now conservatives feel like a beleaguered minority; meanwhile, the right has secured power in just about every American institution except the academy. Political correctness is, in part, a reaction to the defeat of the left’s egalitarian dreams, the kind of mutation that occurs in isolation from the larger gene pool. If you can’t overturn Citizens United, you can at least rename a university building.
See, the "right" has "some position" in most institutions -- "except education". They have "media",  Fox and Talk Radio, and it is hard to shut them completely off on the Internet!  Note how the idea of a Constitution is simply GONE -- the idea that "free speech" means that you have to have MONEY if you want to speak to 300 million plus people is simply bunk! Citizens United just needs to be "overturned" -- the fact that there are ANY conservatives around is too much of a "rise".

And so, for "The Party", any vestige of conservatism is WAY too much! Oh, and our country has slipped so far RIGHT that we are overdue for a giant "backlash" -- that will no doubt usher in the utopia that the left is certain is just around the corner!

Perhaps BS?

Scalia and Ginsburg, Buddies and Hope

Read Justice Ginsburg’s moving tribute to her “best buddy” Justice Scalia - Vox:

I am reminded of Job 1:7

The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it."

God and Satan are definitely opposed, but they interact rather civilly in Job, and it has always at least bothered me emotionally. What I want to see is Elijah in with the prophets of Baal:

1 Kings 18:37-38 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again." 38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

My understanding of Job is a premonition of Christ. Job was a just man, whom God allowed Satan to attack so that God might be glorified and that we might ponder the miracle of the perfect sacrifice of Christ each Lent. Job was tested up to the point of losing his earthy life -- he questioned God, as did Christ,  ("My God my God, why has Thou forsaken me?") but he did not succumb to do Satan's bidding and curse God. God is big enough for all our questions,

That Satan would come before God when called is no mystery -- God is outside time, and Satan is already defeated.

My theory as to "why Satan?" is bound up in "Free Will". God is pure love. Pure love is obedient -- especially to pure good, knowledge and power, but God's Creation, first in the form of Satan, later in the form of man, rebelled and fell.  So the story of creation, already known and complete to God, is the story of redemption, of which we are part.

There is no mystery in Scalia being to willing to befriend Ginsburg. He was a tremendous practicing Christian, his faith demanded it. For Ginsburg though, it is quite amazing.

As a lapsed and non-practicing Jew, she is clearly a rebel in the Satan mold (as are all our fallen natures). No matter the God given role for women, she has rebelled and left Judaism and her zeal for the sacrifice of millions of children to Moloch has more and more consumed her as she has aged, being unwilling that any should have the power to save even fully viable babies from slaughter.

If Satan were to repent, would he be saved and all creation snap back to perfection? I'd like to think so, but I KNOW that were Ginsburg to submit to the will of God, the joy in Heaven would  be great (as it is when any sinner repents).

I'm out visiting my Granddaughter, and it is Lent, so I have an example of new life and promise close at hand, and am trying to walk toward Easter with the faith that God can renew even this nation.

Would it not be amazing if Ginsburg were to realize at the funeral of her friend Scalia that hope was indeed not dead, and she could even at this late point in her life come to Christ, then having an eternity to spend with her "best buddy"? Watching the media turn on her as she changed her opinion on a number of 5 to 4 decisions not yet announced, changing them from now 4-4 to 4-3 would be nearly as wonderful as watching the fire from heaven come down and consume the sacrifice, the altar, and the water in the trenches.

Faith and Hope are inexorably linked. I got to see Reagan and the revival of America in the '80s from the stain of the 60's and '70s. I have a Granddaughter. No matter how dark it seems, wonderful things CAN happen -- even in this "Vale of tears".

They WILL however happen on the final Easter! Though millions of innocent die around us, our Hope is certain!

Even The Left Misses W

Donald Trump makes me miss George W. Bush - The Washington Post:

As the left drives the nation deeper and deeper into the abyss, even THEY miss the combatants of times past, in this case, George W Bush, Eisenhower can amazingly, even the embodiment of evil, Karl Rove!

As the ever excreble EJ Dionne puts it here:
"I had a twinge of nostalgia watching George W. Bush campaign for his little brother in South Carolina Monday night."
Ah yes, "civility". Prior to W, no president had been treated as badly as longly by the MSM. Dionne now finds Trump calling people "liars" to be unseemly -- when W was in office it was the daily harangue from all points left!

But mostly, W’s cameo in the 2016 campaign served as a reminder that, not too long ago, conservative politics wasn’t so beastly. Bush, wading into the manure pile that is the 2016 Republican primary fight, was pleasant, civil and decent.
Being on the left means having no memory, because consistency is something that must be avoided at all costs. Pretty much any conservative of a decade or so ago seems worthy of praise at the latest level of constant cultural decline -- it's just that the left looks at it as "progress" day to day, except when they look across today's isle.

LBJ begets Nixon. Carter seemed like the worst things could become on the left, but then there is BO, who shows every sign of giving us Trump.

As we tumble down the abyss, even the lefties realize that things are getting worse -- but they can't see it in their own candidates, and find lawlessness, scandal, rank partisanship, etc from their own to be "refreshing" -- as long as it is the "conservative" ox that is gored.

At this late stage of decline, the funhouse mirrors start to even make the proprietors of the carnival, those of TP to feel a bit nauseous at times. Good preparation for that stale urine smell in the hallways of the grey cinder blocks of socialism. A strong stomach is required to stand in line with a hangover waiting for whatever the all powerful state has available today -- toilet paper? rot gut alcohol? maybe some stale bread or even some nether cut of meat.

In 10 years, we will certainly miss Trump. It's like any state moving moving toward socialism.

Somebody asks, "How are you doing?" ... Oh, pretty good. Worse than last year, but better than I'll be next year!

God Loves Obama

Jonah Goldberg: If Obama really wants to reduce ‘meanness,’ now is his chance | Opinion | host.madison.com:

God DOES love Obama of course! He loves ALL of us, even me! To God, ALL lives really do matter. As Jonah puts it ...
Well, let no one say the moral arc of the universe does not bend toward second chances.
Indeed -- the universe is wired so we ALL get a LOT of chances to turn from our wicked ways, and at a very minimum practice some flashes of consistency between our actions and our words.

Repentance and redemption! The chance to "get it right this time with the help of God"! It's Lent, it is the perfect time to reflect on how much opportunity Christ has blessed us with the see the error of our ways, repent and begin afresh!

Just before Scalia died, BO uttered the following:
In Springfield, Illinois, last week, President Obama commemorated the ninth anniversary of his bid for the White House. He admitted that one of his “few regrets” was his inability “to reduce the polarization and the meanness in our politics.”
It's as if God heard him and said "OK Barack, here is a chance!".
Obama could prevent all this strife. He could say he will leave this appointment up to his successor. Or he could appoint a conservative during the Senate recess (Sen. Ted Cruz, anyone?) who would serve only until the end of the following session. That would preserve the power balance on the court for the time being.

Such diplomacy would go a long way to prevent — or at least reduce — further polarization and meanness in our politics.
Just imagine how much healing such a change of heart could engender! It might even go a long way toward moving the scales of retribution back to the time of Bork. A way to let actions show the truth of an honest heart bent to reduce the "polarization and meanness in our politics"!

God never gives up. He continues to give us ALL opportunities to take actions to reach out and heal this broken world and nation.

Obama is certainly a person for which it is VERY easy to be cynical about his statements and real motives. God has given him a great opportunity to show what is really in his heart!

Praise be to God!

BO Regrets of Obstruction

http://www.wsj.com/articles/regrets-hes-had-a-few-1455821266

Hit the wrong key on this one and it got posted before ready. Sorry -- pleading white line fever from 12 hours on the road!

Here WH discussion on BO "regrets" he voted to filibuster Alito as a Senator:
And frankly, looking back on it, the president thinks he should have just followed his own advice.” (What is sin? “Being out of alignment with my values.”) It’s fair to doubt the genuineness of Obama’s contrition. Still, what else has he ever regretted, other than failing to “explain” his policies better?
When there is no God and you set yourself up as god, (as BO clearly has), "sin" is when you don't live up to your OWN values -- or to be more precise, when you get CAUGHT not living up to YOUR OWN values. How convenient -- do you seek absolution for your "sins" from yourself as well?

The rest of the article is good, but pretty much "inside baseball" on Senate machinations over nominees. Since we are going to hear A LOT about "obstructionist Republicans" the rest of this year, I thought this was interesting ...

Even if Democrats don’t win this year, a young and able nominee could be considered again by a future Democratic president in the 2020s. George H.W. Bush nominated John Roberts to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 1992, but the Senate failed to act and the nomination expired. George W. Bush nominated him again in 2001, but Sen. Patrick Leahy, then chairman of the Judiciary Committee, refused to hold hearings. Roberts was finally confirmed in 2003, after Republicans took the Senate.

Got that? Democrats held up John Roberts effectively from 1992 - 2003 with two separate opportunities, in which they stiffed him TWICE!  Not something we heard a lot of crying of alligator tears from the TP controlled MSM over is it???

BO, Shit From Shinola

Obama’s shinola | Power Line:

It's never been very clear what BO actually knows when he is off a teleprompter, but he is certainly convinced that the rest of the country's intelligence level would make "The Jerk" look like a genius in comparison.

Oh, yes, there are ALL SORTS of good reasons why BO voting for a filibuster as a Senator was not "divisive", "partisan", "obstructionist", etc. He just couldn't come up when asked without a teleprompter feed!

Hey, it was "THE PARTY (D)" doing the filibuster! Those are the GOOD GUYS!

But this is the Supreme Court. And it’s going to get some attention. And we have to ask ourselves as a society a fundamental question: Are we able to still make this democracy work the way it’s supposed to, the way our Founders envisioned it? And I would challenge anyone who purports to be adhering to the original intent of the Founders, anybody who believes in the Constitution, coming up with a plausible rationale as to why they would not even have a hearing for a nominee made in accordance with the Constitution by the President of the United States ,,,
Ah yes, Mr "Constitution"! Let the EPA make and enforce laws over the objections of congress, shove through healthcare "reform" as a "tax", decree your own immigration policy by executive order and use the IRS to attack the Tea Party. I'm sure I'm missing some -- besides, the BO Court itself treats the Constitution as used toilet paper already!

As the article says, this act is WAY past old!

SCOTUS Nomination Solution

How Republicans Can Win the Supreme Court Media Battle | Ricochet:

Most of the thoughts in this column have been flitting through my head, the author saved me the time of trying to write them. Not sure if I would have come up with the "War Games" reference, I love it!

He suggests that the key to "not playing" is for all the Republicans to utter the following:
“We believe it is the obligation of the next president of the United States to nominate a successor to Justice Scalia. Such a dramatic shift in the balance of the court, so close to an election, should carry with it the voice of the people.”
Democrats are MUCH better than this, partially because the media helps them -- how often to do hear the exact same lines about "war on women", "income inequality" or "anti-science". At least in this battle we won't hear the old shibboleth about "balance on the court"!

Conservatives have a TERRIBLE tendency to be direct and truthful. These are of course VIRTUES in the real world, but they are awful disadvantages in politics. The idiotic Mitch McConnell statement about "not nominating" is a great example. True, helpful to the nation, and direct -- and politically disastrous!

Jonah Goldberg has an excellent column on how if BO ACTUALLY wanted to "reduce meanness", the Scalia death just gave him a great legacy opportunity:
In Springfield, Illinois, last week, President Obama commemorated the ninth anniversary of his bid for the White House. He admitted that one of his “few regrets” was his inability “to reduce the polarization and the meanness in our politics.”
I do feel that God REGULARLY gives BO GIGANTIC object lessons in potential humility and repentance -- call ISIS the "JV team" and they immediately take over huge sections of the mideast, say "red line" and they cross it right away and you have to get help from the adult in the room, Putin!  Utter "we have ISIL contained" in the AM and that very afternoon (here) ISIS attacks in Paris!

Now this ... lie that your "regret" is "polarization and meanness" when you are the main instigator of it,  clearly relish it, and a couple days later God calls home one of the greatest jurists in history who is kind, loving, brilliant, and loved by even the hard left winger Ruth Ginsburg! If BO actually wanted to reduce "polarization and meanness", as Jonah points out, it would be EASY!
Obama could prevent all this strife. He could say he will leave this appointment up to his successor. Or he could appoint a conservative during the Senate recess (Sen. Ted Cruz, anyone?) who would serve only until the end of the following session. That would preserve the power balance on the court for the time being.
Anyway, I think the Republicans need to go ahead and fake like they are going though the process -- hold hearings, say a lot of stuff about what kinds of issues this is going to be critical in -- presidential decrees on Climate Change, immigration, guns, and who knows what. Rulings on the forced funding of government unions, etc, etc.

Then of course have a big dramatic vote in "September" where the Republicans would have SOME fairly unusual level of control on the messaging, where the candidate is rejected -- with a lot of rememberance of of Bork.

But, it is unlikely that they can pull that off, and it is unlikely they can stick to message.

They don't play politics well, and they don't NOT play politics well. That is why the ONLY conservative approach is to REDUCE the size and intrusion of politics in all our lives, which is the principle the country was founded on.

Slick Gets Some British Coverage

Former Miss Arkansas Sally Miller says Bill Clinton was so-so in bed | Daily Mail Online:

Yes, Slick Willie -- only the prudish right wing sorts care about such prurient details,. Oh sure, she claims that her life was threatened, but nobody but "the vast right wing conspiracy" would even give such things the time of day!

Looks like the "vast conspiracy" is world wide!

Hillary Barks Like A Dog!

Truth is stranger than fiction -- although Hillary certainly DOES do a LOT of fiction!

Here is Bill Murray in "Caddy Shack" showing us how we ought to respect "barking like a dog"

The cause of the subprime crisis was a Carter era program called "The Community Reinvestment Act" designed to give home loans to people that couldn't really qualify. What could go wrong with THAT? A bit more on that here ...

So Hillary the dog barks just as untruthfully as she talks, but what does one expect of a dog? If you can't stomach the whole tape (and it IS hard), the woofin is at the end!

Was there ever any doubt she was a REAL (linguistic definition) Bitch ?? !

MNsure, "Free" Still Not Free

Some shocked by estate claims after signing up with MNsure | Duluth News Tribune:

Since we live under the rule of bureaucracy, reading the whole linked article is probably worth it, though it is longer than it needs to be.

Bottom line, in the machinations of BOcare, MNsure and Minnesota Care, the "asset test" for MNsure was taken away because there is none for BOcare and you are REQUIRED to purchase health insurance by law now.

But Minnesota failed to add a form to the tall stack of forms that lets you know that they are putting a lien on any assets you have for the cost of your "free insurance".

My Dad is in a nursing home for at least awhile -- got to sit through a discharge from one facility under Medicare and into another where a "supplemental" was involved. Stacks of papers, lots and lots of questions -- the wheels of government grind the lives and fortunes of us all, but they make sure they gather a lot of data while they do it.

Freedom has never been free -- and the cost of tyranny is still infinite.

Scalia Spectacle

Scalia, the Senate and the Media: A time for hypocrisy | Fox News:

We have no respect for even the dead -- be they babies torn from their mother's womb, or great jurists that come along only once ever few decades. Scalia was a mind and a spirit so far above the "average" that all those scurrying about braying nonsense about "replacing him" are cast in clear light as mental pygmies!

There is no "replacement" for Scalia! There wasn't for Reagan, for Churchill, for Einstein, or for other such giants. An infinite God gifts us with a few great men, and when they pass, we need to have a reasonable time to bless the gift and mourn the loss. We live in a fallen world that is temporal because it is fallen. Scalia understood that -- in his very soul. The most important thing that happens here is infinitely less important than  anything that happens in the spiritual realm! I wrote a bit about Scalia here, and there is a link in that post to an excellent interview with him. One little quote from that interview ...

Isn’t it terribly frightening to believe in the Devil?
You’re looking at me as though I’m weird. My God! Are you so out of touch with most of America, most of which believes in the Devil? I mean, Jesus Christ believed in the Devil! It’s in the Gospels! You travel in circles that are so, so removed from mainstream America that you are appalled that anybody would believe in the Devil! Most of mankind has believed in the Devil, for all of history. Many more intelligent people than you or me have believed in the Devil.
I'm not sure that the interviewer was convinced that there were currently or certainly in the past, any people more intelligent than him. Maybe Einstein -- but that is probably just a sop to false humility. It is left wing dogma that "all are equal" -- removal of standards and hierarchy enables them to replace all the wonderful complex relationships of family, friendship, community, nation and religion with raw unmitigated power. A day listening to NPR is enough to convince anyone with a shred of faith in God left that the Devil is alive and well and having a field day!

Where do Republicans get such ham handed disgusting politicians as Mitch McConnell? Kentucky I guess. He needed to say something nice about Scalia, that was all. Let BO make the first move! Sure, I'd assume that he will nominate someone too far left to be a replacement that a Republican controlled Senate should accept. SUPER ... drag out the confirmation hearings and reject them in "August"! Then it WILL be too late!

I got to listen to a lot of NPR yesterday. When a nation has been destroyed it has no memory or attention span. I must have heard the "precedent" of Justice Kennedy being confirmed in an election year 20 times. I maybe heard the name Bork twice, but it wasn't connected with the Kennedy confirmation. The Democrats owned the Senate and they forced Reagan to accept a very moderate justice that is now a "swing vote" after rejecting Bork in one if not THE battle that soured politics in the US to it's current sorry state. I answered my own question -- we get guys like McConnell because we have made politics into the most dishonorable profession possible!

The nations memory goes as it is destroyed because memory becomes tragic and painful. When a Republican is making a nomination -- even when they are in control in the Senate, the media spends much time and ink on the extremely important issue of "balance in the court" and "no litmus tests" and the CRITICAL importance of "Stare Decisis" (precedent). For NPR and the NY Times, these STRONG principles are most holy when a Republican is making a nomination!

Yesterday it was made clear multiple times that BOTH Hillary and BS would demand that any nomination they made would absolutely vote to overturn Citizens United!

Well, we got no class, and we got no principles ! Perhaps we need to replace the old national anthem with this ... more appropriate to what we are now!

Dilbert On Trump

Scott Adams Blog:

I used to love the Adam's cartoon strip, "Dilbert" when  I worked at IBM. It was almost spooky how well he understood the typical mindless inanity of modern corporate life. He understood it because he was an engineer at AT&T and at least smart enough to make "Mensa" ... so maybe not a genius, but smart.

He opens with the following:
It isn’t unusual for members of the public to hate politicians. For example, lots of people hate President Obama. Some of that hatred is because of his policies, some is because of racism, and I assume there are a few other reasons. But I have never seen anyone who was literally afraid of him on a visceral level.
Trump, on the other hand, actually scares people. I have seen people’s bodies twist up and go into full panic at the thought of him being president. I’m talking about actual, literal, bodily fear, as if a monster is already in house and you don’t know where it is hiding. Even professional members of the media feel this fear.
And yet I feel none of that fear – not even a trace amount. To me, Trump looks like the safest candidate in the history of presidential elections, and I don’t even share his politics on a number of topics. So I have to ask myself why I have zero fear of Trump while so many others are in full panic mode. Should I be more afraid?
Adams never seems to "figure it out" in the column ... as an intelligent engineer, he is trying to be logical. Fear may have a logical basis, but it is only an emotion.

People that hated W or hate BO are not afraid that either of them would directly take them on and cut them down to size if they tried to heckle them. People DID fairly regularly scream things at W, and I'm not sure he ever took on a heckler.

If you hate Trump, unless you have a BIG ego and lots of skills, loud voice, etc, it is nearly certain that if you took your hatred up against him, he would chew you up and spit out out like used sunflower seeds! So they feel fear!

The other aspect I think is that Trump is an "unknown". I certainly was very concerned about what BO would do, and unfortunately those concerns proved to be largely founded -- BOcare, gigantic debt, disregard for the Constitution. loss of US stature around the world, terrible economy, and awful decrease in number of Americans working. I'm concerned about Trump, but policy wise, mostly because he is unknown.

I strongly dislike Trump because he is obnoxious, has no conservative credentials that I can identify, is more concerned about himself than anything else, and he coarsens an  already nasty US political stage.

The column is a worthy read though -- Adams is not the only very intelligent person that I know that is excited about and backing Trump. I think their hopes are FAR too high, in a very similar way to the hopes that the Obama Zombies had in '08.

Human "saviors" are never real!

Debate Into Darkness

Nobody Won the South Carolina Debate -- Conservatism Lost:

The linked column is unfortunately a very worthy read. I don't watch the debates, I read the analysis. As created and typically executed for the Republicans, they are made for TV spectacle, not reasoned exchange with ideas rather than egos at the center.

When a nation is destroyed, EVERYTHING gets destroyed -- especially if it is a nation founded on IDEAS. I'm sure  the Trump supporters feel completely justified in the Star Wars "release your anger" approach to this election. Conservatives are human, so we ALL understand that feeling ... the problem is that is the DARK SIDE!

It's short, just read it, this is the closing.

On a day when an American lost a great patriot — a Supreme Court justice who defended the Constitution and upheld its vital principles until the very day that he died — it was particularly sad to see the hijacking of constitutional conservatism in a race that is quickly degenerating into a dangerous farce at the very time when the nation so desperately needs principled, courageous leadership. Dear candidates, if you can’t win, step aside. If you can win, step up. Otherwise, we are lost.

5 Unarmed Black Men Shot Within Days

5 U.S. law enforcement officers shot dead within days - CNN.com:

Suppose that headline might get some attention? It was 5 Law Enforcement Officers ... never mind.

There are about 21M black men in the US, with about half of them (49%) being aged < 34 ... so 10.5 million. If 5 of them had been shot it would be 5 out of 10.5 million.

There are something a bit less then a million police officers ... 900K is a common number. So the 5 officers shot is 5 out of a million (I'm being generous here).  One doesn't have to be much of a statistician to arrive at "10x the problem".

Of course if the young black men were the headline, the outcry would defy imagination.

Yes, the link is from CNN, it **IS** being covered, but looking at both CNN and Fox this AM, it isn't visible on either of their front pages, nor is it available on my supposedly "popularity based" Google News clipping service.

Naturally you don't have to look very long in conservative media to read about it -- this one being about the obvious difference in BO response to Ferguson, Baltimore, etc rather than to police being gunned down.

However, there is another interesting aspect here, as there commonly is in "conservative media". True conservatives are very aware that reality is not ideologically based! There are MANY sides, one of which was covered in a great article over at NRO in 2014 that I happened to recall ..
Imagine if I were to tell you there is a large group of government employees, with generous salaries and ridiculously cushy retirement pensions covered by the taxpayer, who enjoy incredible job security and are rarely held accountable even for activities that would almost certainly earn the rest of us prison time. When there is proven misconduct, these government employees are merely reassigned and are rarely dismissed. The bill for any legal settlements concerning their errors? It, too, is covered by the taxpayers. Their unions are among the strongest in the country.
No, I’m not talking about public-school teachers. I’m talking about the police.
The article DOES point out the fact that many / most officers are excellent, and why conservatives have a knee jerk response to support them for good reason (order vs chaos), but gives ample food for thought.

The nation was founded by brilliant and COMPLEX men. Men that knew that living, leading and thinking in the real world required assimilation of many views and paradoxes and seeing to apply timeless principles to their ordering while even considering "the human element" ... emotion, intuition and perhaps revelation.

Nothing ... or at best (worst?), very little, is simple. Humility an important place to start. I also often find that an "opposite shift of perspective ... black vs white, democrat vs republican, female vs male, atheist vs christian, christian vs muslim ... can help to clear the fog of bias and ideology.

Trump/Sanders -- Magic In BO Hell

Sanders and Trump: Magic sells - The Washington Post:

There is Bipartisan  agreement that current America is a disaster. BS carefully avoids who is at fault, but he is absolutely clear on how bad it is. Hillary isn't clear on anything other than  she is woman so should get the job via affirmative action, the same way BO did. Here is Charles on the subject ...
But the starting point of the bipartisan critique is the social, economic and geopolitical wreckage all around us. Bernie Sanders is careful never to blame President Obama directly, but his description of the America Obama leaves behind is devastating — a wasteland of stagnant wages, rising inequality, a sinking middle class, young people crushed by debt, the American Dream dying.
Take away the Brooklyn accent and the Larry David mannerisms and you would have thought you were listening to a Republican candidate. After all, who’s been in charge for the last seven years?
Who indeed -- if you listen to BO or the media, it is either W or the evil Rs in congress.
The added factor is the Obama effect, the depressed and anxious mood of a nation experiencing its worst economic recovery since World War II and watching its power and influence abroad decline amid a willed global retreat.

The result is a politics of high fantasy. Things can't get any worse, we hear, so why not shake things up to their foundation? Anyone who thinks things can't get any worse knows nothing. And risks everything.
I think the point Sir Charles misses is that for the vast majority of relatively non-political Americans, they can't IMAGINE how it could get worse. Since '10, when the R's took over congress, the media and BO have been in full throat demonizing them -- but they returned them to power in '12 and '14 ... in '14 with the biggest R majority in the house in 75 years.

Sure the press gives BO all the support it can, but the economy sucks, America is obviously losing on the world stage on a number of fronts, and BO's constant scolding only really resonates with the 20% core Democrat zombies.

So "magic" sells better than "scolding" ... and certainly better than "4 more years" (Hillary), or "Something like the congress you see in the presidency (Rubio).

My hope at this point is for Cruz who DOES have some real plans -- but BOTH the MSM and the Republican establishment hate him, and he isn't Trump!

Cruz vs Sanders would give America the most choice we have had in a long time -- but I'm starting to think it will be Trump / Sanders ... dueling sorcerers!

Gold, Goldman Sachs, Hillary as "Goldmember"

You’ll Never Guess the Other Time Hillary Wore That Same Gold Top | Mediaite:

So she wore the same top to go speak to Goldman Sachs. Is this like her SELECTING a bunch of e-mails off her server, claiming that NONE contained anything secret, and then having like 40 show up as TOP SECRET?

Is this the criminal returning to the scene of the crime to get caught, or is the the addicted shoplifter that just wants to pull it off again for the thrill?

I'm assuming that she IS a woman and is actually a mother. Given that, having been around women and having lived with one for over 30 years, are we to believe she pays no attention to what she is wearing when she goes on a nationally televised debate? I mean, she keeps claiming that women HAVE to vote for her, and Madeleine Albright even claims they will "go to hell" if they don't support Hillary! Is not paying attention to what you are wearing something a woman does?

So that outfit looks like: a). Something done by Kim Jong's tailor that he refused to wear.  b). Something worn by a low budget humanoid alien on Star Trek c). Stolen from Austin Powers "Goldmember" wardrobe.

Add to it that she wore it to Goldman Sachs, which gave her $640K, and doesn't it HAVE to mean something? I mean, if a woman pulls out an unusual outfit that you have only seen her in once, doesn't she ALWAYS have a message?

My view ... she is letting us know she is lesbian and "wears the pants".

Teachers Imperfect Climate Indoctrinators

How teachers are getting it wrong on climate change - The Washington Post:
Thirty-one percent of teachers also said that they include both the scientific consensus position — that global warming is human-caused — but then also a “natural causes” position that contradicts it, thus presenting “both sides,” in the study’s words.
I've covered before how our current school systems were engineered to create at the start of the 20th century using principles from guys like Taylor and Dewey to make "compliant workers and consumers" for the industrial manufacturing world.

The fact that such people operate best in totalitarian systems was just a bonus!

The linked article is not "in your face", but it makes it pretty clear that there needs to be a national top-down agenda for getting our "numbers" up to "where they need to be" on Climate Change.
The study also found that most teachers are unaware of the strength of the scientific consensus about the human causes of climate change. The survey asked them “what proportion of climate scientists think that global warming is caused mostly by human activities?” For middle school teachers, 30 percent chose the option “81 to 100%,” which the researchers identified as the correct answer. High school teachers were only a little better, at 45 percent.
The highlight is the big "tell" that we are dealing with totalitarian ideology. In teaching "science", polls of how many people believe whatever would have been SCIENTIFIC SACRILEGE even back when I was in school. We were far too close to the Nazi politicization of science and Lysenkoism in the USSR, PLUS, we were a country GOING TO THE MOON! Things like going to the Moon require REAL SCIENCE, not political ideology.

The "correct answer" was 81-100% ... but the REAL answer is closer to 40%! However, the REAL PROBLEM is that we are doing "Family Feud Science" ( Survey Says!) indoctrination.

Which brings us to:
Teachers who espoused conservative ideological beliefs about government’s role in people’s lives tended to be more likely to present an “on the one hand, on the other hand” version of the climate issue in class.
I'd love to see that percentage ... I'm guessing it wasn't very high!

The ideology which may not be named as "ideology" because it is the dominant one we are soaking in ("liberalism"), is actively working to stamp out any presentation of an alternate view. Meanwhile that which is strongly labeled as "ideology" is in the business of presenting facts and alternatives and allowing for a public to think and make up their own minds!

**IF** we were ever to return to being a nation of freemen, one of the highest priorities would be to demand and constantly monitor so that our schools turn out INDEPENDENT, reality-based,  CRITICAL THINKING students rather than mindless totalitarian ideological automatons!
