No Family, No Country, Identity Politics

The Primal Scream of Identity Politics | The Weekly Standard:

This one is definitely worth the read -- it falls one "parent" short, GOD, but it hits the earthly target very well. I'd argue that killing "god" in the Nietzchean sense was definitely on the road to killing daddy, mommy, and family in general. A people that still honored God could not have legalized abortion, dishonored their parents, and abandoned their children in the name of earthly sexual pleasure and other "progress".

I'm about 1/3 of the way through "The Secular Age" by Charles Taylor. It tells the story of how the west went from a fully enchanted world at the time of the Reformation, to the nearly totally DISenchanted world we live in today. Everyone believed that the Cosmos was ordered with a sacred purpose that included each of us -- embedded in our family, church, community, nation, and yes, an ordered cosmos where everything included elements of the spiritual, the sacred.

Today, we are DISembedded and disenchanted --
The legalization of same-sex marriage, as observers both for and against the 2015 Obergefell decision came to agree, owed most to one factor: empathy for the moral claim that attraction to one’s own sex is like pigmentation or DNA, immutable and immune to change. Yet a split cultural second later, exactly the opposite case has come to be made for the intersex, transgendered, and other sexual minorities: that identity is fluid, indeterminate, perhaps even recalcitrant, rather than born that way
In this head-on collision of purported creation stories about sexual and gender identity that cannot possibly both be true, we see once more that the question Who am I? is the most fraught of our time. It has become like a second skin: something that can’t be sloughed off, or even scratched, without excruciating pain to the subject—reason and logic and the rest of persuasion-as-usual be damned.
As we have attempted to make "meaning" a material thing, it is not all that surprising that we would have completely incompatable "required views" on one of the most basic elements of our identity, our gender. Science says there are two genders, society says there are 50 some and more every day.

So why have we become "tribal"?
It’s not that “America Wasn’t Built for Humans,” as the title of Sullivan’s piece has it. It’s rather that America, like other civilizations, was built for humans who learned community not from roving bands of unrelated nomads, but from those around them—beginning in the small civilization of the family.
Our macro-politics have gone tribal because our micro-politics are no longer familial. This, above all, is what’s happened during the five decades in which identity politics went from being unheard of to ubiquitous.
Pretty much all of us understand this at some level. Our "families" almost all now involved 2nd, 3rd, etc marriages, and often many sorts of other relations. In the Bible we hear "who is my neighbor", today we hear "Who is my Daddy? my Mommy? my Sister? my Grandparent ... etc, etc". Clearly, lots of the people we know have decided that "what THEIR heart says" is what must be truth.

Jerimiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

Naturally, when God was supposedly killed, such ancient wisdom became foolish. Today we "follow our hearts", and attack those who fail to agree with our own godlike view of "truth".

When a mob of young men attack a 74-year-old man and a middle-aged woman, as happened at Middlebury College in March in the case of Charles Murray and Allison Stanger, something deeper is afoot than American individualism run amok. When debate after campus debate is preemptively shut down due to social media threats of violence, reasoned talk of a “Reagan Dispensation” doesn’t begin to capture the menace there. Berkeley spent $600,000 on “security” for a visit by the conservative author and pundit Ben Shapiro. Non-progressive speakers who have nothing to do with racism or supremacism are regularly harassed, threatened, disinvited, and shouted down on campuses across the country. To ascribe these transgressions to identitarian narcissism alone is to miss what’s truly novel about them. And most chilling.
Many of the 4500 and rising posts in this blog call out the horror that we have (mostly) unwittingly unleashed. I could link you to MANY, however, I think "Darwin's Cathedral" is key ... a short excerpt from that post, all from page 228 of that book.
" It is true that many religious beliefs are false as literal descriptions of the real world, but this merely forces us to recognize two forms of realism; a factual realism based on literal correspondence, and a practical realism based on behavioral adaptiveness."
"Rationality is not the gold standard on which all other forms of thought are to be judged. Adaptation is the gold standard against which rationality must be judged, along with all other forms of thought."
and then ... "... factual realists detached from practical reality were not among our ancestors. It is the person who elevates factual truth above practical truth who must be accused of mental weakness from an evolutionary perspective".
We pretty much all actually operate on a practical realism based on adaptiveness ... and we pretty much all think that OUR tribe really operates on a factual realism based on literal correspondence, and the other tribe is a bunch of evil lying "progressives", or "deploreables" depending on which tribe we identify with. The core problem is that without any transcendent meaning in our lives, "pleasure" tends to cloud our judgement, and any perceived threat to our determination of "truth" becomes ever harder for us to face with maturity.

Maybe that cultural scream of “mine!” is issuing from souls who did have something taken from them—only something more elemental than the totemic objects now functioning as figurative blankies for lost and angry former children. As of today, less than 65 percent of American children live with both biological parents, even as other familial boughs have broken via external forces like the opioid crisis, criminality and incarceration, and globalization. Maybe depression and anxiety have been rising steadily among children and teenagers for a reason. Maybe the furor over “appropriation” unveils the true foundation of identity politics, which is pathos.
The columns closing paragraph is powerful, and WAY too true in the world I see around me. I'll be reading some of the links and I'll continue to howl at the despair of our broken modern world with the only thing which I believe can save us individually or collectively -- The Grace of Jesus Christ through Faith Alone! On this 500th year of the Reformation, revive us again Lord Jesus!
Anyone who’s ever heard a coyote in the desert, separated at night from the pack, knows the sound. Maybe the otherwise-unexplained hysteria of today’s identity politics is just that: the collective human howl of our time, sent up by inescapably communal creatures who can no longer identify their own.

The Final Days of Trump, Halloween 2016

The Final Days of Trump’s Unprecedented Campaign:

Unless you are really really into history, schadenfreude or both, reading the whole thing is useless. A year ago the MSM was as confident as they are today that they knew and know everything. They are never wrong -- what they count on is this ...

“His view is the American public has a two-to-three-week attention span. He may be right about that."

Well, yes, the 24x7 media spin machine, mass marketing, shallow, inane "entertainment" that is closer to mind control than anything else, the media certainly, and maybe even Trump, count on the reality that most of the BOistan public has AT BEST a couple of weeks of attention span.

So most people still believe a lot of what they read in the "news" ... like this paragraph, from a year ago this week.

"In recent weeks, the mood at Trump Tower has veered between despair and denial—with a hit of resurgent glee when the news broke that the FBI was looking into more of Clinton’s emails. When I asked one senior Trump adviser to describe the scene inside, he responded: “Think of the bunker right before Hitler killed himself. Donald’s in denial. They’re all in denial.” (As Times columnist Ross Douthat put it, in a tweet, “In Trumpworld as Hitler’s Bunker terms,” the FBI investigation is “like when Goebbels thought FDR’s death would save the Nazi regime.”)"
Yes folks, that is "real news", from the mainstream media -- it's WRONG to call it "Fake News", your attention span is supposed to be MUCH shorter than this!

Hey, and Ross "Doubt That" is still writing NY Times columns!

The Russians, The Party, BOistan

Hillary’s dossier | Power Line:

https://patriotpost.us/articles/52074

There is a good deal of reading in those links, the bottom line is a sad one that we now have a bunch more proof for. "The Party" (TP-D) has been colluding with the "Russians" since WAY back ... even when they were the USSR.

The second link does a good job of some summary ...
  • The Hillary Clinton "Russian Reset"
  • BO cancelling missile defence for Poland
  • BO assuring Medvedev on an open mike about "flexibility" after 2012 election
  • BO laughing at Romney about the "1980's want their foreign policy back"
  • BO trusting the Russians to enforce his "Red Line"
  • Urainium One
  • The DNC funded "Trump Dossier"
As the second link closes with ...

America is facing an existential crisis, one where it appears the same institutions designed to provide law and order and national security are guilty of wholesale corruption — and possible treason. Either the Trump administration will root out the rot, or the electorate will be faced with the undeniable reality we live in a nation where “justice” consists of one set of laws for the rich and powerful, and another for everyone else. A nation where Congress conducts toothless hearings, those who should be investigated conduct the investigations, and utterly corrupt media censoranything inimical to their own interests and those of their ideological allies.

Absolutely no one can justify the sale of the main ingredient used in nuclear weapons to the Russians. Either the swamp gets drained — or the entire nation drowns in it.

Readers of this blog know this already -- 2016 was the Flight 93 Election, wether or not Trump can turn us back from BOistan is highly in doubt. The "double standard" is really TP vs non-TP. It wasn't that Weinstein was wealthy and powerful, Bill Cosby was that at one point too -- it was that although Harvey was safe as long as TP controlled ALL the levers --- Hillary Lost.

We live in such a corrupt tribal state that news that the DNC / Clintons funded the "Dossier" that kicked off the Special Counsel attacking Trump is not front page blaring headline news like Watergate, Iran Contra, or what Scooter Libby did or did not know about a "covert" CIA operative named Valerie Plame who drove into Langley every day and had her husband write Op Eds for major news outlets to maintain her "deep cover".

This ought to be flashing along the bottom of every screen on every network in BOistan!

After much pain — after much lying, Clinton style — the Washington Post reported on Tuesday evening that the Trump Dossier was commissioned by the smear outfit GPS Fusion at the behest of the Clinton campaign. It was funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
Tom Perez, the current chairman of the Democratic National Committee wants it to be known that the DNC’s “new [post-election] leadership” (Perez and Minnesota’s own fast-talking hustler Keith Ellison) know nothing. They all sound like Mafia types. Nobody knows anything.
NOTE, the Washington F*ing Post is reporting this! The DNC has ADMITTED IT!

In the last two weeks we have found smoking guns proving that the Clinton Fund and the BO administration knowingly sold 20% of our urainium reserves to Russia for bribes and kickbacks, AND the DNC has ADMITTED that they colluded with the Russians to smear Trump!

Oh, and as a bonus, we now know for certain the IRS in fact targeted conservative groups for political reasons under BO.  That was always obvious to anyone that was awake though -- and the sleepers are not going to be concerned about it anyway. As long as they get their "free stuff" or stay on the Administrative State gravy train, why in the world would they care if the Administrative State is a weapon against those that disagree with it politically?

"Sauce for the goose" ...

But never mind -- nobody cares in BOistan. We are through the looking glass, down the rabbit hole and LOST IN SPACE! 90% of the public just knows what their tribe is, and "justice" is when their side wins!

We have indicted Manafort for "lying to the FBI and money laundering"? SERIOUSLY? We all know the Clinton Fund (Funds for Clintons) was a direct shakedown operation that amoung other things took 10's of millions DIRECTLY from Russian sources. How about being endicted for not even bothering to TRY to launder your bribes?

Here is Hillary lying under oath 3 times -- I'm sure that if we did a family compilation, we could find at least 10s of examples ... "I never had sex with that woman ..."

BOTH sides either follow the law or THERE IS NO LAW! Which is one of the mottos of BOistan.

Weinstein, Fighting The "System"

Facing Down the Network That Protected Harvey Weinstein - The New York Times:

We all live within our own networks, systems, communities, clans, tribes, etc. Usually we don't really think about it much -- they "just are" ... like fish talking about being wet.

Hollywood, the Main Stream Media, the professionals, the "elite", they are all part of "The Party" (TP-D) ... you have to be if you want to be "elite". It is like the old USSR, or NAZI Germany, there is ONE real party of power, and membership is required if you want to be a power player. Sure, the US still has the ILLUSION of two parties, but the biggest service Trump has given us is smoking out that fantasy ... McCain, Flake, Corker, Snow ... and in many ways Ryan, McConnel and many others are more TP than the official TP folks with Ds next to their names!

They do the bidding of The Swamp ... the Administrative State, Davos, etc, and going against them gets you attacked "Bigly" ... see Trump!

The article doesn't mean to tell you how TP operates, but it does. We all know that the NY Times was sitting on Weinstein dirt for over a decade -- they were a major PART of the "racket" they suddenly claim to stand boldly against in this teary little column.
The racket is a formidable opponent for anyone who is trying to expose the truth. It uses everything at its disposal to wear down reporters or break their wills, either by wooing them with invitations to premieres, access to stars and, in some cases, possible book and movie deals.
TP is the BIG "racket", and it's tentacles include the Deep / Administrative State! See "Trump Dossier", courtesy of the DNC now ADMITTING to funding it ... with some level of complicity from the FBI, and likely CIA. Now THAT is a "racket", and the NY Times is right in the middle of that one as well!

As I've said before, the ability of Trump to take these folks on is AMAZING!

How Many Genders Are There?

Trump’s Road to 2024 - The New York Times:

There are two answers to that. The scientific answer;  TWO ... women have two X chromosomes and men have an X and a Y, and the "socially constructed" answer which is somewhere north of 50 as we write this with FB still clinging to 58 genders and other gender sites north of 70 and rising.

Can a Democratic candidate for president answer to how many genders there are? I doubt it.
Coughlin went on: “A Democratic Party that can’t tell me how many genders there are, that ain’t flying in this country.”
I'm not so sure of that claim -- we DO have gay "marriage", and there is a whole bunch of "transgender" stuff floating around in a lot of states. Is it more "anti-science" to believe in 50+ genders, or to imagine that there could be other things responsible for climate change on planet earth given ice core data?

The columnist informs us that there are NOW two definitions of truth in the US.

There are now two definitions of truth in the United States. The first is that a truthful statement is one that conforms to facts or reality. By this standard, President Trump is a serial liar.
The second is that truth is “telling it like it is,” or speaking in a direct, unvarnished way without regard to political correctness or the offense it may give. By this measure, for millions of supporters, Trump is the most honest president ever.
So which standard would a media that reports there are 50+ genders and that Anthropogenic Global Warming is "settled science" be adhereing to? "facts/reality", or "speaking directly"?  How about "If you like your health insurance you can keep it?"

Trump winks at white supremacists, thrives on confrontation and debases the Oval Office.
I remain completely baffled how anyone could "debase the Oval Office" after Slick Willie stained it indellibly and the same sort of folks as the guy writing the column defended his right to ejaculation at the office with a female employee -- a "right" shared in very few offices in the US. It has been well debased already, I've seen no "debasement" from Trump that even holds a candle to Slick. I found BO's "apology tour" to well exceed anything from Trump so far.

Trump certainly DOES thrive on confrontation -- many politicians have, BO certainly did, as well as Slick Willie and to some degree Reagan. "Winks at white supremacists"? Yes, I understand the media sorely wants that to be the Trump MO, however that doesn't really fit under the "conforms to facts or reality" rubric, does it?

Fake News has been the coin of the left for longer than my lifetime. Certainly once the "Fairness Doctrine" (only left wing news allowed!) was dropped, Fox and talk radio started doing it as well, but this is much like teens discovering, OMG! Mom and Dad must have had sex!

The bottom line here is that at least some folks on the left are starting to figure out that their odds of impeaching Trump are not what they had hoped, and their odds of beating him are certainly not a dead certainty.

The Kennedy 1984 Russian Collusion

Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit:

I've embedded this in a couple other posts, but it bears remembering. "The Party" (TP-D) was in the business of Russian/USSR collusion LONG ago!

"Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.”"

Safari In BOistan, Wisconsin

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/10/on-safari-in-trumps-america/543288/

At one level, this article is extremely funny -- although it is also sad. Some left coast liberals took a "safari" to of all places, Western Wisconsin .. places I'm very familar with. The following paragraph is what I believe the BOistan "Declaration of Government Dependence" to replace the old American one might be ...

We hold these truths to be self evident; Uncreated, randomly evolved humans can be educated, indoctrinated,  or forced to believe in the true way of centralized all powerful government proscribing their every thought and action." (The New Preamble of BOistan, Year ONE of No god but Government)

So after some crying time after the election, the "Third Way" decided to go on safari in this strange land they did not understand.
Third Way, for its part, announced in January it would spend $20 million on what it called the “New Blue” campaign to “provide Democrats with a path out of the wilderness.” Like many of their peers, the think tank’s brain trust had been stunned by the election. On November 9, too devastated to work, its staff had simply sat together and cried.
Here we have the premises of their trip ...

The trip was predicated on the optimistic notion that if Americans would only listen to each other, they would find more that united than divided them. This notion—the idea that, beyond our polarized politics, lies a middle, or third, path on which most can come together in agreement—is Third Way’s raison d’etre. It is premised on the idea that partisanship is bad, consensus is good, and that most Americans would like to meet in the middle.
One shudders to think what "the middle" in the minds of these people is -- they built a lot of Hillary's strategy, so clearly, HILLARY was a fairly "non-partisan, consensus meet in the middle" candidate in their minds.

In the old country of America, politics was usually well down the list of things of importance ... God, Family, Friends, Vocation, Community, Hobbies, Pets ... and then somewhere on the 2nd set of fingers, the priority of politics might pop up. Crying about politics was generally unthinkable in America unless you or someone close to you was a losing candidate.

In Ellsworth WI, a local farmer explained to the anthropologists what was wrong  -- he could just as well have been talking to the elite in ancient Summeria, Egypt, Greece, Rome, or Victorian England -- bureaucracy, parasites, vampires, syncophants, toadies, lackeys, etc  are anything but a new problem for humanity.
“You’ve got all these parasites making a living off the bureaucracy,” the farmer declared, “like leeches pulling you down, bleeding you dry.” We had been in the state for just a few hours, and already the researchers’ quest for mutual understanding seemed to be hitting a snag.
Certainly Hillary strategists are positive that "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" is a completely sensible statement. To the extent the "Third Way" makes any sense at all, is to forget left and right, let's have one huge single party government where we ALL think alike -- you know, CORRECTLY. It's the TP ("The Party - D) way!

It isn't that they could not find broad consensus, it is just that the only example of such was that young people no longer wanted to work ...

As we proceeded to meetings with diverse groups of community representatives, this sort of blame-casting was a common refrain. Disdain for the young, in particular, was a constant, across demographic, socio-economic, and generational lines: Even young people complained about young people. “They don’t want to do the work, and they always feel like they’re being picked on,” a recent graduate of a technical school in Chippewa Falls said of his fellow Millennials.
The low point for at least one of the 3rd Way folks was with a group of organic farming hippies who she thought would be dedicated consensus builders like themselves.
“I had a very hard time with that meeting,” she finally said. “The longer the meeting went on, the more it started to feel to me like just another community that had isolated itself, and it was right and everybody else wasn’t, you know?” The hippies should have been her kind of people, but the attitudes they’d expressed had offended her sense of the way America ought to be. She had come seeking mutual understanding, only to find that some people were not the least bit interested in meeting in the middle. And now she was at a crossroads: Would she have to revise her whole worldview to account for this troubling reality?

In the end, the safari found that BOistan was just like what they thought it was ... strong work ethic, lots of agreement, 70% of the people are "in the middle", meaning the "I'm with IT" -- Hillary, transgender, kneeling for the anthem, DC is great. In short, the BOistan that they expected to find. Confirmation Bias is alive and well. The 3rd way turned out to be "just another group that isolated itself, and it was right and everybody else wasn't, you know?"

I'm thinking that a good many folks in previous nations that went from being successful to being sucked dry by a blood sucking leech of an Adminstrative State bureaucracy and large parts of the population paid off in one way or another to at least be quiet, would find more than a little of "deja vu all over again". Isolated elites living off the fruits of the little guys and surrounded with a bubble that tells them that all is A-OK would not be "new news" in the time of the Akkadian Empire over 2K years BC ... a glance through all the empires that have risen and fallen through history is theraputic from time to time.

How would someone come to agreement on some value, ANY value that "70%" of BOistani's are in agreement on? People need to stand for the flag / anthem? Nah.  "Hard Work"??? Seriously? Over half of the population is is drawing funds from the federal government in one way or another. God? Not likely ... I maintain there is not a single value that 70% of BOistanis agree on.

How SHOULD "America" be? It would be nice to agree on what America even WAS before it's destruction to BOistan before we try to think about that!

Justice Department Apologizes For IRS Targeting Conservatives

Justice Department agrees to settle lawsuits over IRS scrutiny of tea party groups - The Washington Post:

The IRS targeted conservatives, and NOBODY IS RESPONSIBLE! There is the Administrative State in action -- it happened, but nobody is responsible, it's just "poor management" ... very very focused "poor management".

If Trump was using the IRS to target left wing groups, we would be talking impeachment seriously. Only thing is, there is no way that can happen ... in fact the IRS and other Administrative State alphabet organizations may well still be targeting their political enemies -- INCLUDING TRUMP HIMSELF.

In fact, they ARE, see Robert Mueller!

Niger, Trump's Benghazi?

Do not try to turn Niger into Trump’s Benghazi.:

I don't know, did Trump blame the deaths on a youtube video? Did the US Ambassador to Niger die? Do you mean that it won't amount to anything? Did Trump unilaterally decide to bomb Niger without any congressional support in order to destabilize it to allow Al Quada (in this case Boko Haram) to take over as BO did with Libya?

BOistanis have such short memories, it gets REALLY hard to imagine what they are talking about!

Is The Left Self Aware?

Wilson demands apology from Kelly for ‘character assassination’ | TheHill

I assume that Freddy Kruger could win in Wison's district as long as he had a D by his name and promised lots of free stuff, however on a national stage, does "The Party" (TP-D) and it's wholly owned media REALLY want Representative Wilson as a spokesperson? I understand that they are blind with Trump rage, however, assuming they are self aware, one would really think that this would give them pause.

Is that the picture you want people to think of when they think TP?

As we know, the problems with SkyNet began when it became self aware.

Perhaps the left is so full of rage, lust for power, and hatred of the last tattered remnants of "America", that they are simply not self aware. That is as good an explanation as any to what one is thinking as they put on a "Pussy Hat" to go out and march.

Nothing says  "R-S-P-E-C-T", as BO likes to spell it, like wearing a Pussy Hat!

Dog Gas, All About Trump

Small business owner appears in photo with Trump... with predictable results - Hot Air Hot Air:

If you read to the bottom of the little article you will see that Dave has a solution to extensive flatulence in dogs ... he sounds like an incredibly mean guy on video.

Here is his pictoral sin, Dave is 2nd from the left.

He has been working hard to find a way to keep providing health insurance for his employees, and the latest Trump roll back allowed it again:

Then Obamacare came along and that ability vanished. He’s spent the past several years traveling back and forth to Washington and Boston talking to every official he could find to complain about that portion of the law. It turns out that Trump’s recent executive order rolled back that part of Obamacare so the group could negotiate for better rates again and the National Retail Federation sent Dave an invitation to go to Washington and attend the signing.
Now, we know that the official media narrative is that BOcare did nothing but good, and that any rollback is doing nothing but evil. Someone living in the real world might guess that narrative is significantly wrong, but considering the MSM anything less than gospel is not allowed -- certainly not in Massachusets!
Welcome to social activism on the Left in 2017. A guy who provides 150 local jobs and serves a popular (if eclectic) consumer niche was trying to find a way to get more affordable group health insurance for his workers. When that goal was achieved he accepted an invitation he’d never asked for to go to the White House and celebrate that achievement. And now the liberal hordes on social media are trying to shut him down. Over a photgraph. Great job, guys.

Davos Loves BOistan, "Value" Is Only Money

Well, it was only 3, and a US Ambassador, but fortunately US Ambassadors being murdered is fairly rare. It's a special shame when it is "due to a video".

Here is Kelly really defending the defunct Democratic Republic of America ...

We had a couple of speeches last week that the two major tribes in BOistan had different reactions to (suprise) ... first, General John Kelly's shock at the politicization of a call to a widow of a fallen special forces soldier, then W on restoring a true Davos control of this lawless territory now known as BOistan.

Here is the text of Kelly's speech if you want to look at it, it is well worth watching and or reading. It reminds us of what it was to live in a great nation rather than a tribal failure. "When there is nothing in our country anymore that seems to suggest that selfless service is ... appropriate ..."

Who are these young men and women? They are the best 1 percent this country produces. Most of you, as Americans, don't know them. Many of you don't know anyone who knows any one of them. But they are the very best this country produces, and they volunteer to protect our country when there's nothing in our country anymore that seems to suggest that selfless service to the nation is not only appropriate, but required. But that's all right.
As I've said many times, there is nothing left in BOistan that is held sacred by a large majority of people. A Matt Walsh column covers that in some detail.

A land made of ideals? What ideals? Tell me exactly which ideals unite and define the United States in 2017? I don't want to hear about what ideals united us in 1776 or 1890 or during WW2. Those days are gone. Tell me about today. This moment. Give me one ideal — just one — that can be said to unite nearly all Americans right now. After all, if we are a country made of ideals, yet we share no common ideals, then we are not really a country. Remove the bricks from a house made of bricks and you're left with rubble. Remove the essence from something and you end up with nothing. So, what are our bricks? What is our essence?
Readers of this blog know that the US was a nation based on ideas rather than territory, race, religion or ethnicity. We all know that we now can't name ONE value/ideal that is shared by a large majority of what used to be "Americans", but I now refer to as BOistanis, since we have NOTHING that is held in common -- not even honoring the old flag and anthem of the historical "America".

Here are some words from Kelly on that topic.

It stuns me that a member of Congress would have listened in on that conversation. Absolutely stuns me. And I thought at least that was sacred. You know, when I was a kid growing up, a lot of things were sacred in our country. Women were sacred, looked upon with great honor. That's obviously not the case anymore as we see from recent cases. Life -- the dignity of life -- is sacred. That's gone. Religion, that seems to be gone as well.
Gold Star families, I think that left in the convention over the summer. But I just thought -- the selfless devotion that brings a man or woman to die on the battlefield, I just thought that that might be sacred.
No John, nothing is sacred in BOistan ... 60 million murdered in their mothers wombs give a mute testimony so loud as to drown out any tiny sense of life even being "important".

Jonah Goldberg has a rather fanciful, but somewhat useful take on the two speeches.
But it seems like almost everybody is only hearing what they want to hear. Liberals, the media, and — importantly — President Trump’s Amen Corner all heard the same thing in Bush’s remarks: “Blah, blah, blah, blah, Trump Bad.” That’s why Bush is suddenly benefitting from a strange new respect from liberals and a strange new hatred from former supporters.
Yes Jonah, everyone -- including you and me, is hearing everything through the lens of our bias. That has always been, and is always the case, thus the reason WHY it was important to have SHARED values, and  a TRANSCENDENT view where we could at least attempt to rise above our biases to a set of sacred principles that would allow us to have a SHARED, non-tribal view, of what it meant to all be citizens of a nation founded on values / ideas / ideals.

But Jonah, we NO LONGER LIVE THERE, and I believe that is the essence of why you failed to see why it was CRITICAL that Hillary not be elected, even if it meant electing Trump!

If you want to read the entire W speech, I have included it here. Jonah aside, it does seem rather ironic to see the left praising W -- until Trump, there was nobody they enjoyed dismissing as a complete idiot than more than W. All it takes to be redeemed in the eyes the left is if one takes on Trump! I found this paragraph interesting ...

In all these ways, we need to recall and recover our own identity. Americans have a great advantage: To renew our country, we only need to remember our values.
W and his speech writers try valiantly to arrive and some "values" that might be of interest to some people -- obviously, the ones the left agrees with are "fight Trump"! Those damned Russians! Get globalism running again! More money for Davos!

W was a decent guy, a Christian even. He was and is total inside the beltway DC establishment through and through -- a man for bigger government, just maybe a TINY percentage less bigger than "The Party" wants. Obviously he hates Trump -- Trump beat his whiny little brother Jebbie, it is easy to understand why that made W werry werry angry!  8 years of BO shredding the Constitution and losing Iraq that America paid for with blood and treasure? Not a peep out of W. I think we know Davos / beltway / line the establishements pockets when we see it.

None of these reasons are however "shared values" -- a return to open borders and more globalism no doubt is a "value" that makes W, TP and our elites hearts go pitter pat, but it isn't exactly "America" -- it is a strong cry for a total return to BOistan without any boat rocking about some "return to greatness". W, he of "kinder and gentler", was forced to execute a "War On Terror" rather than the real war on Islamic Fundamentalism -- which considers establishment of a global Caliphate as a religious duty. It was the only kind of "war" that Davos would sign off on.

Everyone working hard so that the richest 8 guys on the planet that have overy half the total wealth on the planet can meet in Davos once a year is the "core value" that W, Flake, Corker, McCain, and the entire MSM / Democrat party are actually espousing as they attack Trump. They all know where the real power is (Davos), and they want their cut -- they REALLY don't want to see that threatened in any way, least of all by Trump!

You know my view -- either we return to Christ, or we continue to decline as a the failed tribal state of BOistan with no agreement at all of what "values" it might be that underly our whims, or the very clever marketing of our elites. I think the Kelly speech does a great job of pointing out just how far we have fallen, and the W speech does a great job of pointing out that the establishment of both political parties LOVES our fallen state as long as it enriches them!

I know this has gotten too long, I'd like you to consider "Six Seconds To Live" before you turn away and return to marianating in the MSM / cultural value free marketing designed to make you an amoral slave of Davos. We used to be a truly great nation! Those few of us that are left, the TRUE RESISTANCE -- need to remember and spread the memory of what was once America!

For about two seconds more, the recording shows the Marines’ weapons firing nonstop, the truck’s windshield exploding into shards of glass as their rounds take it apart and tore in to the body of the son-of-a-bitch who is trying to get past them to kill their brothers—American and Iraqi—bedded down in the barracks totally unaware of the fact that their lives at that moment depended entirely on two Marines standing their ground. If they had been aware, they would have known they were safe, because two Marines stood between them and a crazed suicide bomber. The recording shows the truck careening to a stop immediately in front of the two Marines. In all of the instantaneous violence Yale and Haerter never hesitated. By all reports and by the recording, they never stepped back. They never even started to step aside. They never even shifted their weight. With their feet spread shoulder width apart, they leaned into the danger, firing as fast as they could work their weapons. They had only one second left to live.

The Red Century, Nostalgia for Communism At NY Times

New York Times’ Communism Series -- Red Century & Lies about Socialism | National Review:

A good one from Jonah on the series at the Times waxing nostalgic for the "good old days" of the USSR. I agreed with Jonah that the "Women Had Better Sex Under Communism" was especially wacky. The column gets a bit long, however I think it is very important to understanding the "progressive/socialist/communist" mind.

It is perhaps hard to understand now, but at that time, in this place, the Marxist vision of world solidarity as translated by the Communist Party induced in the most ordinary of men and women a sense of one’s own humanity that ran deep, made life feel large; large and clarified. It was to this clarity of inner being that so many became not only attached, but addicted. No reward of life, no love nor fame nor wealth, could compete with the experience. It was this all-in-allness of world and self that, all too often, made of the Communists true believers who could not face up to the police state corruption at the heart of their faith, even when a 3-year-old could see that it was eating itself alive.
There are essentially only two beliefs that give meaning to human life. The first is some version of transcendence -- that there is a God, a "power" that is beyond mere physical matter, and has created all we see and ourselves as well for an eternal purpose. The second is the materialst vision that matter is all. While this materialist vision ought to mean that meaning is not possible, since all is mere randomness, including whatever thoughts we might believe we have, man truely does not live by bread alone.

He MUST have faith, so the materialist conjures some idea of "basic goodness" -- instilled "somehow" by blind chance, to create his article of faith that man is "somehow good". Communism promised that if religion and other "opiates of the people": could be removed, the mass of humanity would quickly become a workers paradise here on earth.

The article then talks of Russia's long term actities in "meddling" in the US to fan racial and class tensions in the interest of tearing our political system apart. Naturally, the left was largely unconcerned about this activity since it aligned with their vision -- attempts to move the US to a communist state were seen as generally positive by the left, so most were OK with them, and highly outraged by efforts from Americans to expose those efforts (McCarthyism).

Today, the supposed efforts from the Putin regieme to de-stabalize BOistan are naturlly horrific for the left. One wonders what Putin's objectives beyond fanning the already extreme flames of disunity in BOistan are -- perhaps Trump is a KGB agent and will turn BOistan into the sort of oligarichal kleptocracy that todays Russian seems to be? It seems strange to me -- what is the Davos directed Administrative State of BOistan anyway but a kleptocracy for "The Party" and their "1%"?

Oh, and there are a number of memes / tweets in the column about how "real socialism has never been tried" along with this gem, The Iron Law of Oligarchy" from Robert Michaels in 1911. Bob and I would get along well ... I believed that the Constitution could prevent the takeover of our nation by administrative State, however Bob tells me it was inevitable.
According to Michels all organizations eventually come to be run by a "leadership class", who often function as paid administrators, executives, spokespersons, political strategists, organizers, etc. for the organization. Far from being "servants of the masses", Michels argues this "leadership class," rather than the organization's membership, will inevitably grow to dominate the organization's power structures. By controlling who has access to information, those in power can centralize their power successfully, often with little accountability, due to the apathy, indifference and non-participation most rank-and-file members have in relation to their organization's decision-making processes. Michels argues that democratic attempts to hold leadership positions accountableare prone to fail, since with power comes the ability to reward loyalty, the ability to control information about the organization, and the ability to control what procedures the organization follows when making decisions. All of these mechanisms can be used to strongly influence the outcome of any decisions made 'democratically' by members.[2]
Having only written versions of this a few hundred times, the fact that it was all known in 1911 merely gives me another reason to be humble. There is truely nothing new under the sun.

In general, a column worthy of the read!

Proof BO DOJ Colluded With Russia

Bombshell Revelations about Russia and Obama’s Department of Justice | Power Line:

I've covered the fact that tens of millions of dollars flowed to "The Clinton Fund -- Funds, for Clintons" so that Russia could abscond with 20% of our urainium resources -- the "Urainium One" deal itself is a matter of public record. The documentation of the bribery and kickbacks as well as documentation of the BO DOJ turning a blind eye is what is covered in the linked column and in the articles from "The Hill", a middle of the road political publication.

The congress and the president need to PROSECUTE Crooked Hillary -- if not Slick and BO as well.

Yes, the Deep State, including all the lifer bureaucrats at DOJ, FBI, CIA, commerce, state, etc, etc will do all they can to save "their people" the Clintons, etc, and it may well not be possible to get Hillary in prison and some sense of justice returning to BOistan, but it should be attempted.

BOistan is a VERY corrupt place -- certainly the vast majority of the Republican party is just as in on it and corrupt as "The Party" (TP-D). As least Trump will tweet out the truth -- it remains to be seen how many will take the time to understand just how high level and well documented the corruption really is. The media will be doing everything they can to suppress this.

"It's bad, you know".

Repeal the Second Amendment, NY Times

Repeal the Second Amendment - The New York Times:

I applaud this article for it's honesty. OF COURSE the left wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment! As the article boldly admits  ...

Maybe it’s because they argue their case badly and — let’s face it — in bad faith. Democratic politicians routinely profess their fidelity to the Second Amendment — or rather, “a nuanced reading” of it — with all the conviction of Barack Obama’s support for traditional marriage, circa 2008. People recognize lip service for what it is.
The article leads in with the classic shibboleths about "more guns = more crime" ... Of course you can find a study to "prove" nearly anything, but the fact is that if you remove our liberally governed heavily gun controlled murder capital cities ... Chicago, DC, Baltimore, New Orleans, etc,  our murder by gun numbers are like Swtizerland. The big lie that is used to pump them up beyond the murder rates for our Democrat disaster area cities is SUICIDE by gun -- as Australia discovered, get rid of the guns and people kill themselves at the same rates by other methods. Humans are resourceful.

Deaths from guns at home? PLEASE! If you really care, outlaw swimming pools ... 3,500 drowned a year, 700 of them children under 14 ... does anyone really "need" a swimming pool?

Naturally, you can't even trust a liberal when they tell you what they are going to do in the headline  ... they DON'T want to "Repeal the 2nd Amendment", which would require a Constitutional Amendment. No, they want the SCOTUS to overturn it from the bench! "Unconstitutional"? No doubt the non-existent "Privacy Clause" includes some "riight" for you to be free from the fear that your neighbor has a gun. There is no "law", Constitutional or otherwise beyond liberal power ... at least in their minds.

Repealing the Amendment may seem like political Mission Impossible today, but in the era of same-sex marriage it’s worth recalling that most great causes begin as improbable ones. Gun ownership should never be outlawed, just as it isn’t outlawed in Britain or Australia. But it doesn’t need a blanket Constitutional protection, either. The 46,445 murder victims killed by gunfire in the United States between 2012 and 2016 didn’t need to perish so that gun enthusiasts can go on fantasizing that “Red Dawn” is the fate that soon awaits us.
Oh, the "Red Dawn" thing. After Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Nicaragua, etc, etc, the left continues to imagine that a dedicated local armed citizenry has "no chance" against either a rogue government trying to usurp the right to bear arms, or against an invading outside force. The "Red Dawn" reference is to a movie in which armed Americans foiled a old cold war Soviet invasion.

The left is all about "fantasy", and not very much about either history or American reality. Naturally, when a Republican president attempts to deploy troops anywhere, the left will point out the "futility of attempting to suppress guerilla warefare" -- consistency, like history or reality is not a liberal value.

The only "value" that the left/liberal/progressive mind cares about is POWER. Certainly, the removal of the right to bear arms would be a major step for them in making totalitarian government control much easier, so it is completely unsurprising that is their goal -- this article was just a tiny bit more honest than most on the subject.
